John M. Crossman, CCIM, Managing Director at Crossman & Company

John M. Crossman oversees the day-to-day operations of the acquisition, leasing and property management divisions. He has been in the real estate business for over 14 years and was involved with more than $1 billion in transactions.

John supervises retail leasing and marketing initiatives for The Villages, the largest single site residential development in the United States, which spans over 25,000 acres in three adjoining counties in Central Florida. Located an hour north of Orlando, The Villages is currently home to over 67,000 residents with a projected build out of over 100,000 by 2010. As one of the fastest growing communities, The Villages boasts 20 executive golf courses, 8 challenging championship golf courses in addition to world-class dining, shopping and entertainment. Residents enjoy nightly festivities in several town squares, access to over 900 clubs and superb recreational facilities offering billiards, swimming, tennis, softball leagues, polo matches, bowling and much more. Residents living in The Villages have an average income that is almost double the U.S. average and are dedicated to supporting local businesses and community growth.

John was recently inducted as the first President of the Central Florida Commercial Association of Realtors, (CFCAR), a newly formed association replacing the Central Florida Commercial Real Estate Society (CFCRES) and uniting 11 local associations in the nine county area including 40 of Central Florida’s top commercial practitioners. He is an active speaker and writer on retail issues for ICSC and has been featured in: Shopping Center World, Shopping Center Business, Florida Real Estate Journal, The Sun Sentinel, South Florida CEO, and the Orlando Sentinel, The Villages Daily Sun among others. In early 2004, John was named Top Central Florida Commercial Real Estate Salesperson by the Orlando Business Journal.

John earned a bachelor of science in Real Estate at Florida State University and has been an Orlando resident for the past 17 years, with his wife and two small children. In his spare time, he is involved with numerous charitable activities including the Good News Jail and Prison Ministry and the Christian Service Center. John considers his greatest achievement to be the fact that his wife, Angie, agreed to marry him in 1996. They have two daughters, Claire and Ava—Ask John to show you pictures.
